The minimum you will need for this is:
- Suitable key shell, this one is for the Discreet Auto flip key kit
- 50mm section of double sided tape (included in Discreet Auto flip key kit)
- Small Phillips head screwdriver (not included)
- A plastic 10mm x 2mm piece to open the key shell (not included). A flat head screwdriver will also work, but note it can dig into the key shell material, damaging it. Something plastic or a fingernail if you are strong enough is more ideal.
- It also helps to have someone with nimble fingers to assist with the later double sided tape steps.
Step One: Locate the small Phillips screw from your original key and remove it

Step Two: Locate the notch on the side of the key shell and split the key in two. Be careful not to damage the plastic of the key shell if you need to use a screwdriver etc.

Step Three: Remove the buttons unit and the transponder from the original key shell. These will pull out, the transponder usually has a small amount of rubbery adhesive on it, fine to leave this on the transponder if it stays stuck to it as it will assist to hold it in place in the new key.

Step Four: Clip the original key shell back together and keep the button unit and transponder aside to insert into the new key shell. Insert the small Phillips screw into the original key shell and put aside. Do not dispose of this, you will still need the shape of the key blade.

Step Five: Obtain the new key shell and locate the notch on the side of the key shell to separate it into two halves in similar fashion to the original key.

Step Six: Locate the top right of the rear of the new key shell. This is where the transponder chip will be inserted vertically. The button unit will house in the front of the key, located by the buttons themselves.

Step Seven: Obtain the double sided tape supplied with the Discreet Auto Flip Key Kit.

Step Eight: Remove the double sided tape from the rear backing and stick the edge of it to the transponder. The next step is a bit easier if the edge of the tape and the transponder line up.

Step Nine: It help is you have someone with nimble fingers for this step. Remove the top layer of paper from the double sided tape by pulling at it gently on the corner with your fingernail. Once its pealed back, you can then wrap the transponder in this tape.


Step Ten: Insert the transponder into the key shell and press it against the outer of the key shell for thirty seconds. This will help it adher to the key shell and prevent it from moving around after you clip it back together.

Step Eleven: Reassemble the button unit into the front of the shell and press the two back together.
Take the flip key and your original key to a key cutter/locksmith to cut the new keys blade to match the old key.
Retain the old key after the new key has been cut as a spare key. It won’t work to start the car without the transponder, but it can still be either reassembled or just used to open a boot/door lock if required.
